Here look for Hardware and devices and click on it. I'd rather have a rock solid router (especially as the rising number of smart devices in my home are depending on it), than having few extra whistles that the newer Asus and Merlin firmwares brought. This will open the list of available windows troubleshooting tools. In the meantime as I digged into this whole topic and the different firmware variations, I started leaning towards flashing to john9527's fork of old Merlin firmware. Recently I started having the same issue with my AC66U, and this solution seems to work! Thanks for the hint. You will need to enter some numbers for Upload and Download Bandwidth.you can set these according to the speed/bandwidth of your ISP. Turning it on, with a QoS Type of "Traditional QoS" did the trick. This could only be fixed by another reboot (ruled out the the cable modem as the cause, it was fine).įinally after trying many things, I finally happened upon the Traffic Manager tab which has a QoS setting. But then within a few minutes, something would happen and the router would lose WAN connectivity. After the reboot all the machines on the network (wired + wireless) would connect fine. After several power outages I started noticing serious connectivity issues which could only be fixed by rebooting the router repeatedly. Hopefully it will help someone out there who might happen upon this if they search for it.

I'll add my Asus Router related anecdote here as well. I suppose another option is to modify your CFE, and set the base clock there, so you don't have to run this command every time you reflash your router, or clear NVRAM. Nvram set clkfreq=800,666 & nvram commit & reboot Nvram set asuscfeclkfreq=800,666 & nvram set asuscfecommit=1 So in summary, if your TM-AC1900 Router isn't totally bricked, but you are experiencing sluggish UI, constant WAN disconnection (due to failed Flow acceleration) - after you've converted it to AC68U/P, check to see if maybe the clock rate is too high for your binned CPU, and bring it down enough until BogoMIPS reports higher than 199.47.īelow is what it looks like to set the CPU clock to 800/666 in putty UI is snappy, and no more WAN disconnects.Įvery attempt to put the CPU clock back up to 1000,800 made "cat /proc/cpuinfo" report BogoMIPS : 199.47 In doing so, im now seeing BogoMIPS : 1595.80.

What I had to do was down clock the CPU to 800,666 in order for it to function normally again. (Now it makes sense why the TM-AC1900 exists in the first place, ASUS likely repackaged all their CPU's that are achieving around 80% yield, instead of trashing them). This is bad if the binned CPU that is in your TM-AC1900 is incapable of sustaining said frequency. If it reports BogoMIPS : 199.47, then its possible the problem is the base CPU frequency that is getting upped by the CFE's used to convert the TM-AC1900 to AC68U/P. So for those of you that stumbled upon this forum trying to troubleshoot your TM-AC1900 (that you converted to AC68U/P using 1.0.2.0/1.0.2.0 with AI/1.0.2.5 CFE's), and your trying to figure out why your WAN connection keeps dying, but LAN/WLAN is still functional, go ahead and run the "cat /proc/cpuinfo" command in PuTTY.
